L3W& RIVERSIDE PUBLIC UTILITIES PUBLIC UTILITIES Board Memorandum BOARD OF PUBLIC UTILITIES DATE: November 1, 2013 DIRECTOR'S REPORT ITEM NO: 17 SUBJECT: MONTHLY POWER SUPPLY REPORT—September 2013 POWER USAGE Total load requirements (including losses) during September 2013 were 250,314 MWh and 80,249 MWh of purchases from the CAISO, of which 170,065 MWh were provided by our resources and other purchases. The retail customer load for September 2013 (242,739 MWh)was 5.1% higher than the retail customer load in September 2012 (231,069 MWh). The actual peak system demand was 578 MW, compared to actual peak system demand of 543 MW last year. Energy returns were 3,960 MWh and 3,156 MWh were attributed to losses (4.31%). Green power supplied approximately 24.24% of our retail energy requirements. The City's generation resources were available during the month as follows: UNIT OPERATION IPP: IPP units 1 and 2 operated at 58.68% capacity factor for the month. PVNGS: Palo Verde units 1, 2 and 3 operated at 98.46% capacity factor for the month. Hoover: 86.72% of RVSD's entitlement was met as compared to WAPA's Master Schedule (dated 5/14/12). Clearwater: Clearwater's availability was 100% for the month. RERC: RERC Station (Units 1,2,3 and 4) availability was 99.9% for the month. Springs: Springs units 1, 2, 3 and 4 availability was 99.27% for the month. Salton Sea: The Salton Sea units operated at 75.83% capacity factor for the month. TRANSMISSION: Pacific DC: The South to North transmission line is currently derated to 975 MW (ETR 12/31/2013) and the North to South transmission line is operational at 2,990 MW.
