W R I E R E N E R G Y RIVERSIDE PUBLIC UTILITIES Board Memorandum PUBLIC UTILITIES BOARD OF PUBLIC UTILITIES DATE: November 1, 2013 ITEM NO: 4 SUBJECT: PRIMARY CABLE BURN UP REPAIR ON AEGEAN AND ANTARES DRIVES - WORK ORDER NO. 1407874 ISSUE: The item for Board of Public Utilities consideration is approval for Work Order No. 1407874 to repair primary cable burn up on Aegean and Antares Drives. RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of Public Utilities approve the capital expenditure of$65,000 for Work Order No.1407874. BACKGROUND: On Thursday, September 26, 2013, at 1:44 a.m., 12 kV cable in conduit (type #2 AL XLPE) faulted on Aegean and Antares Drives. Crews were unable to remove the existing cable and installed a temporary 12 kV primary riser between structures to restore service by 2:37 p.m. Contract crews from International Line Builders, a member of the Contractors' Panel for Energy Delivery Work, were directed to bore or trench 595 feet, install 595 feet of conduit and a three feet by five feet primary pull box to begin the restoration of the electrical distribution system to its normal operating condition.
