R E N F „ RIVERSIDE PUBLIC UTILITIES Board Memorandum PUBLIC UTILITIES BOARD OF PUBLIC UTILITIES DATE: September 20, 2013 ITEM NO: 6 SUBJECT: OVERHEAD ELECTRIC POLE RELOCATION AND UNDERGROUND ELECTRICAL INSTALLATION ALONG DAWES STREET NORTHERLY OF MAGNOLIA AVENUE — WORK ORDER NO. 1327739 ISSUE: The issue for Board of Public Utilities consideration is approval of the capital expenditure of $113,180 for Work Order No. 1327739 for the relocation of three electric utility poles and the installation of an underground vault and conduits for the Dawes Street Improvement Project. RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of Public Utilities approve the estimated capital expenditure of $113,180 for Work Order No. 1327739 to replace three deteriorated poles and install a vault to reroute conduits in conflict with a new storm drain line for the Dawes Street Improvement Project. BACKGROUND: This project will relocate existing overhead and underground facilities in conflict with a new storm drain line for the Public Works Dawes Street Improvement Project along Dawes Street northerly of Magnolia Avenue (Attachment 1). The project includes the relocation of three Riverside Public Utility wood poles, the installation of an underground vault, approximately 2,400 feet of conduit and electrical distribution facilities to increase system reliability. Riverside Public Utilities (RPU) staff completed the project engineering with consideration given to the surrounding aesthetics, while ensuring that such consideration did not impact the cost of construction.
