W A l E R E N E R G Y e. t <br /> MAM RIVERSIDE PUBLIC UTILITIES <br /> PUBLIC UTILITIES Board Memorandum <br /> BOARD OF PUBLIC UTILITIES DATE: September 6, 2013 <br /> ITEM NO: 4 <br /> SUBJECT: ARLINGTON BOOSTER STATION REHABILITATION - WORK ORDER NO. <br /> 1328027 <br /> ISSUE: <br /> The item for Board of Public Utilities consideration is approval of the capital expenditure of $238,985 for <br /> Work Order No. 1328027 for the rehabilitation of the Arlington Booster Station. <br /> RECOMMENDATION: <br /> That the Board of Public Utilities approve the expenditure of $238,985 for Work Order No. 1328027 for <br /> the rehabilitation of the Arlington Booster Station. <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> Constructed in 1974, the Arlington Booster Station serves the Arlington 1080 Pressure Zone in Riverside. <br /> Not only do the three pumps serving the Station need to be replaced, but the Station needs to be <br /> updated to meet existing and future demands, as well as be retrofitted to handle portable back-up power <br /> generation. <br /> The work includes replacing the pump control panel, installing new pumps and motors, improving the <br /> vehicle entrance, installing a pre-fabricated building and paying fees for the upgrade of the electrical <br /> service. Quotes were solicited and received for all new equipment and the installation work. <br /> FISCAL IMPACT: <br /> The total project cost is estimated at $238,985 as shown on the table below: <br /> Item Cost Percent <br /> of Total <br /> Replacement of pump panels— Brithinee Electric $27,095 11.3% <br /> Replacement piping and fittings— Inland Water Works $24,830 10.4% <br /> Replacement of the pump and motors—Tri County Pump Co. $46,203 19.3% <br /> New Prefabricated Building — Roll-a-Part $46,852 19.6% <br /> Electrical and SCADA Materials $20,000 8.4% <br /> Underground and demolition—Water Field Forces $27,279 11.4% <br /> Electrical Service Modifications - RPU $25,000 10.5% <br /> Contingencies 10% of above total $21,726 9.1% <br /> Total $238,985 100% <br /> Sufficient funds are available in the Public Utilities' Water Facility Rehab Account No. 6230000-470803. <br />
