-` RIVERSIDE PUBLIC UTILITIES Board Memorandum PUBLIC UTILITIES BOARD OF PUBLIC UTILITIES DATE: September 6, 2013 ITEM NO: 3 SUBJECT: UNDERGROUND ELECTRICAL INSTALLATION ALONG TEQUESQUITE AVENUE BETWEEN PINE STREET AND BROCKTON AVENUE - WORK ORDER NO. 1325777 ISSUE: The issue for Board of Public Utilities consideration is approval of the capital expenditures of $489,983 for Work Order No. 1325777 for the installation of an underground vault, manhole, conduits and underground switch structure in the Downtown area. RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of Public Utilities approve the estimated capital expenditure of $489,983 for Work Order No. 1325777 to install an underground vault, manhole, conduits and underground switch structure consistent with the Electric System Master Plan for the Downtown area. BACKGROUND: This project will extend existing electrical distribution facilities to serve the Riverside Community Hospital Expansion Project and other future customers near Brockton Avenue and Tequesquite Avenue (Attachment 1). The project includes the installation of approximately 3400 feet of conduit, three underground structures and electrical distribution facilities to increase system reliability. The project has been designed and will be constructed with consideration given to the surrounding aesthetics. Engineering was performed by Riverside Public Utilities (RPU) staff and electric work will be performed by RPU field forces. All civil construction including trenching, conduits, underground structures and other infrastructure work will be performed by contract crews from the RPU Contractors' Panel. FISCAL IMPACT: The capital expenditure for Work Order No. 1325777 is estimated to be $489,983.
