W A T E R E N E R G Y l f F t RIVERSIDE PUBLIC UTILITIES P U B L I C U T I L I T I E S Board Memorandum BOARD OF PUBLIC UTILITIES DATE: July 19, 2013 DIRECTOR'S REPORT ITEM NO: 28 SUBJECT: MONTHLY POWER SUPPLY REPORT — May 2013 POWER USAGE Total load requirements (including losses) during May 2013 were 170,223 MWh and 1,449 MWh of sales to the CAISO, of which 171,672 MWh were provided by our resources and other purchases. The retail customer load for May 2013 (164,871 MWh) was 3.6% higher than the retail customer load in May 2012 (159,189 MWh). The actual peak system demand was 498 MW, compared to actual peak system demand of 422 MW last year. Energy returns were 0 MWh and 5,112 MWh were attributed to losses (4.7 %). Green power supplied approximately 27.5% of our retail energy requirements. The City's generation resources were available during the month as follows: UNIT OPERATION IPP: IPP units 1 and 2 operated at 65.15% capacity factor for the month. PVNGS: Palo Verde units 1, 2 and 3 operated at 98.26% capacity factor for the month. Hoover: 100.43% of RVSD's entitlement was met as compared to WAPA's Master Schedule (dated 5/14/12). Clearwater: Clearwater's availability was 100% for the month. RERC: RERC Station (Units 1,2,3 and 4) availability was 78.29% for the month. Springs: Springs units 1, 2, 3 and 4 availability was 100% for the month. Salton Sea: The Salton Sea units operated at 85.40% capacity factor for the month. TRANSMISSION: Pacific DC: The South to North transmission line is currently derated to 975 MW (ETR 08/31/2013) and the North to South transmission line is operational at 2,990 MW.
