RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of Public Utilities approve the capital expenditure of $405,000 for Work Order No. 1324155, which includes all design, construction, contract administration, inspection and construction contingency costs for the Victoria Avenue Valve Replacement Project. BACKGROUND: The Riverside Public Utilities Department (RPU) uses transmission mains to move water efficiently throughout the service area. Recently, staff identified three valves on a 24 -inch transmission main in the 1200 zone that are inoperable and need to be replaced. One of these valves is partially closed and it impacts staff's ability to operate the system efficiently and effectively. The work will generally entail removal of three 20 -inch valves, installation of three new 24 -inch valves, along with all other related fittings and appurtenances at various locations along Victoria Avenue (Attachment 1). The system shutdowns needed for this work will be carefully scheduled and coordinated by staff to minimize disruptions to the system. Staff will utilize RPU's Contractor's Panel to expedite the project.
