W A T E R E N E R C Y I <br />RIVERSIDE PUBLIC UTILITIES <br />WI& Board Memorandum <br />P U B L I C U T I L I T I E S <br />BOARD OF PUBLIC UTILITIES DATE: SEPTEMBER 4, 2015 <br />ITEM NO: 7 <br />File ID — 15 -2809 — C <br />SUBJECT: SUB - TRANSMISSION LINE RELOCATION FOR PLAZA SUBSTATION — WORK <br />ORDER NO. 1501810 FOR $160,000 <br />ISSUE: <br />The issue for Board of Public Utilities consideration is approval of the capital expenditure of $160,000 for <br />Work Order No. 1501810 for the Sub - transmission Line Relocation for the Plaza Substation. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />That the Board of Public Utilities approve the estimated capital expenditure of $160,000 for Work Order <br />No. 1501810 for the Sub - transmission Line Relocation for the Plaza Substation. <br />BACKGROUND: <br />As part of the Magnolia -Plaza Reliability Project (MPRP), which included the purchase of land for the <br />Plaza Substation expansion and all pertinent 69kV and 12kV substation equipment, sub - transmission <br />and distribution work is required. <br />The Plaza Substation is currently served by two 69kV overhead sub - transmission lines. The substation <br />expansion requires one of the sub - transmission lines to be relocated 100 feet west of the existing <br />location. The scope of work includes the reconfiguration of the existing overhead distribution circuits <br />outside the substation as well as the installation of two 85 foot poles, 110 circuit feet of 69kV overhead <br />wires, anchors and associated facilities. The scope of work also includes trenching, extending one <br />existing four -inch fiber optic conduit and removal of a section of the existing sub - transmission line. <br />Riverside Public Utilities (RPU) engineering staff performed the design to eliminate any negative visual <br />impacts to the project and surrounding area, with sensitivity to the existing neighborhood and within City <br />Planning guidelines for the designated area of the project. <br />The project breakdown is proposed as follows: <br />Project Breakdown <br />Engineering Performed By: <br />RPU engineering staff <br />Civil Construction Performed By: <br />Energy Delivery Contractors' Panel <br />Electrical Work Performed By: <br />RPU field forces <br />Anticipated Start Date: <br />October 5, 2015 <br />Anticipated Duration: <br />2 weeks <br />Coordination Required With: <br />RPU Field Superintendent, RPU Operations <br />and Dispatch <br />Reimbursements: <br />None <br />
