CITY OF <br />RIVERSIDE <br />P U B L I C U T I L I T I E S <br />RIVERSIDE PUBLIC UTILITIES <br />Board Memorandum <br />BOARD OF PUBLIC UTILITIES <br />DATE: SEPTEMBER 18, 2015 <br />ITEM NO: 7 <br />File ID — 15 -2971 — D <br />SUBJECT: PLAZA SUBSTATION 4 kV TO 12 kV CONVERSION CIRCUIT 454 — WORK ORDER <br />NO. 1501824 FOR $1,264,000 <br />ISSUE: <br />The issue for Board of Public Utilities consideration is approval of the capital expenditure of $1,264,000 <br />for Work Order No. 1501824 for the Plaza Substation 4 kV to 12 kV Conversion Circuit 454. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />That the Board of Public Utilities approve the estimated capital expenditure of $1,264,000 for Work Order <br />No. 1501824 for the Plaza Substation 4 kV to 12 kV Conversion Circuit 454. <br />BACKGROUND: <br />The Electric System Master Plan (ESMP) recommends the conversion of all remaining 4 kV to 12 kV <br />distribution circuits to improve system capacity and reliability. This work will upgrade electric distribution <br />facilities west of Magnolia Avenue in the region between Linwood Place and Tequesquite Avenue. The <br />scope of work includes the conversion of Plaza Substation Circuit 454 from 4 kV to 12 kV. <br />The overhead work includes replacement of 41 wood poles, 43 transformers, five pole switches, 20,000 <br />circuit feet of primary wires, 6,500 circuit feet of secondary cables and related overhead distribution <br />facilities. The underground work includes the replacement of 700 circuit feet of primary underground <br />cables and related underground distribution facilities. <br />Riverside Public Utilities (RPU) engineering staff performed the design to eliminate any negative visual <br />impacts to the project and surrounding area, with sensitivity to the existing neighborhood and within City <br />Planning guidelines for the designated area of the project. <br />The project breakdown is proposed as follows: <br />Project Breakdown <br />Engineering Performed By: <br />RPU engineering staff <br />Civil Construction Performed By: <br />None <br />Electrical Work Performed By: <br />RPU field forces <br />Anticipated Start Date: <br />September 21, 2015 <br />Anticipated Duration: <br />23 Weeks <br />Coordination Required With: <br />RPU Field Superintendent <br />Reimbursements: <br />None <br />
