W A T E R I E N E R G Y L I F E <br /> RIVERSIDE PUBLIC UTILITIES <br /> Board Memorandum <br /> P U B L I C U T I L I T I E S <br /> BOARD OF PUBLIC UTILITIES DATE: JULY 13, 2015 <br /> ITEM NO: 2 <br /> SUBJECT: BOARD OF PUBLIC UTILITIES STRATEGIC PLANNING WORKSHOP — UTILITY 2.0; <br /> REVIEW INITIAL STAFF PRESENTATIONS ON ELECTRIC INFRASTRUCTURE, <br /> WATER INFRASTRUCTURE AND WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT ROADMAPS THAT <br /> OUTLINE CURRENT AND FUTURE ISSUES THAT RIVERSIDE PUBLIC UTILITIES <br /> WILL FACE AS IT PREPARES FOR AND RESPONDS TO THE TRANSFORMATIONAL <br /> CHANGE AFFECTING THE UTILITY INDUSTRY <br /> ISSUE: <br /> The issue for the Board of Public Utilities consideration is to conduct a workshop to receive initial staff <br /> presentations on Electric Infrastructure, Water Infrastructure and Workforce Development Roadmaps <br /> and provide feedback for inclusion in the final documents. <br /> RECOMMENDATION: <br /> That the Board of Public Utilities conduct a workshop and provide feedback on the draft Electric <br /> Infrastructure, Water Infrastructure and Workforce Development Roadmaps. <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> On February 12, 2015 the Board of Public Utilities (Board) began a long range strategic planning <br /> process. Under the umbrella concept of Utility 2.0, staff has prepared a series of"roadmaps" that outline <br /> current and future issues that RPU will face as it prepares for, and responds to the transformational <br /> change affecting our industry. Each of the Roadmaps includes the following sections: Assessment, <br /> Findings, Options &Alternatives and Recommendations. <br /> On July 13, 2015 the Board will be asked to provide feedback on the Electric, Water and Workforce <br /> Development Roadmaps. The Board's feedback will be synthesized and incorporated in the Roadmaps <br /> and brought back to the Board on July 29, 2015.
