W A T E R E N E R G Y L[ RIVERSIDE PUBLIC UTILITIES ^A Board Memorandum PUBLIC UTILITIES BOARD OF PUBLIC UTILITIES DATE: SEPTEMBER 19, 2014 ITEM NO: 7 SUBJECT: MAGNOLIA 4 KV TO 12 KV CONVERSION OVERHEAD PROJECT — WORK ORDER NO. 1319390 ISSUE: The item for Board of Public Utilities consideration is approval of a capital expenditure in the amount of $1,577,100 for Work Order No. 1319390 for the Magnolia 4 kV to 12 kV Conversion Overhead Project. RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of Public Utilities approve the estimated capital expenditure of $1,577,100 for Work Order No. 1319390 for the Magnolia 4 kV to 12 kV Conversion Overhead Project. BACKGROUND: The Electric System Master Plan (ESMP) recommends the conversion of all remaining 4 kV to 12 kV distribution to improve system capacity and reliability. The work includes the conversion of three 4 kV circuits to 12 kV, which involves the replacement of 47 poles, 75 transformers, wires and related overhead distribution facilities. Riverside Public Utilities (RPU) engineering staff performed the design to eliminate any negative visual impacts to the project and surrounding area; with sensitivity of the existing neighborhood; and within City Planning guidelines for the designated area of the project.
