sY A I R E N E R L Y I I F F <br />== RIVERSIDE PUBLIC UTILITIES <br />Board Memorandum <br />PUBLIC UTILITIES <br />BOARD OF PUBLIC UTILITIES DATE: JUNE 4, 2015 <br />ITEM NO: 7 <br />SUBJECT: WAL -MART EXPANSION PROJECT (5200 VAN BUREN BOULEVARD) — WORK <br />ORDER NO. 1503387 FOR $53,665 <br />ISSUE: <br />The issue for Board of Public Utilities consideration is to approve of a capital expenditure in the amount <br />of $53,665 for City - provided construction services associated with the expansion of a Wal -Mart Store <br />located at 5200 Van Buren Boulevard. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />That the Board of Public Utilities approve Work Order No. 1503387 in the amount of $53,665 which <br />includes City - provided construction services associated with the expansion of a Wal -Mart Store located <br />at 5200 Van Buren Boulevard. <br />BACKGROUND: <br />On January 24, 2011 the City Council approved a design review planning case to expand and improve <br />the existing Wal -Mart store located at 5200 Van Buren Boulevard. As a condition of approval, the <br />applicant is required to complete certain street improvements to widen Van Buren Boulevard between <br />approximately Wells Avenue and Philbin Avenue. The street improvements impact Riverside Public <br />Utilities Water Division's (RPU) existing facilities. <br />Wal -Mart hired a Registered Civil Engineer licensed in the State of California to prepare a street <br />improvement plan which includes the water improvements to be performed by RPU Field Forces. The <br />improvements entail extending, relocating and abandoning existing appurtenances, installing a new <br />landscape water service and upgrading the existing belowground fire service to aboveground in <br />conformance with California Division of Drinking Water (formally California Department of Public Health) <br />standards. <br />On April 20, 2015 Wal -Mart paid the required fees and charges as set forth in Water Rules 10 and 11 in <br />the amount of $55,665 of which, $53,665 is allocated towards the construction related services provided <br />by RPU. <br />FISCAL IMPACT: <br />The total capital expenditure for Work Order No. 1503387 is estimated to be $53,665. Sufficient funds <br />are available in the Public Utilities' Water System Expansion Account No. 6230000 - 470701. The <br />expenditures are fully covered by the fees paid by Wal -Mart per Water Rules 10 and 11. <br />
