The issues for Board of Public Utilities consideration are'. 1) approval of a contract award for the Cook <br />Booster Station Replacement Project — Bid No. RPU-7247; and 2) approval of a capital expenditure in <br />the amount of $1,542,500 for Work Order No. 1323229. <br />RECOMMENDATIONS. <br />That the Board of, Public Utilities: <br />Award a contract for the construction of the Cook Booster Station Replacement Project — Bid <br />No. RPU-7241 to the lowest responsive bidder, SCW Contracting, of Fallbrook, California, in <br />the amount of $1,159,814; and <br />2. Approve the capital expenditure of $1,542,5500 for Work Order No. 1323229, which includes all <br />design., construction, contract administration, inspection and construction contingency costs <br />for the Cook Booster Station Replacement Project -.Bid No. RPU-7247. <br />The Cook Booster Station and Norte Vista Booster Station pump water from the Gravity Zone to the La <br />Sierra 1010 Zone. Cook Booster Station serves as the primary facility with Norte Vista supplementing <br />during the summer. The existing Cook Booster Station was construicted in 1975 and has underigone <br />i <br />several purrip rehabilitations ever since, It consists of three outside pumps and piping enclosed a <br />chain link fence. <br />The proposed replacement pump station will be built adjacent to the existing station and will consist of <br />three 100 HP pumps, with capability to add a fourth pump in the future. Pumps, piping, and electrical <br />equipment will be enclosed in a 24-foot by 40-foot pre-cast concrete building with a wrought iron <br />security fence surrounding. the equipment in a building will improve maintenance and <br />security, and will mitigate noise, Following construction of the new stallion, the existing pump station will <br />be abandoned and demolished. <br />Bids were opened on July 1, 2014. T he lowest responsive bid was submitted by SCW Contracting, <br />Staff has reviewed all provided documentation and has determined that SCW Contracting has met all of <br />the requirements of the specifications. <br />
