The 'item for Board of Public Utilities consideration is rejection of all bids received for the rehabilitation of <br />vacant space at the Mission Square facility for relocation of the Public Utilities Board Room., Bid No. RPU- <br />7248. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />That the Board Of Public Utilities reject as non-responsive all bids for Bid No. RPU-7248 for the rehabilitation <br />of vacant space at the Mission Square facility for relocation of the Public Utilities Board Room, and approve <br />the release of all bid guarantees. <br />BACKGROUND: <br />At a minimum, RPU will occupy the Mission Square facility until September 2022. Additionally, a five-year <br />option to extend the lease to 2027 is included as pail of the current lease agreement. <br />Concurrently, in an efflort to consolidate RPU operations to fully utilize our leased and owned 'Facilities, the <br />Customer Service division and 311 Call Center consisting of approximately 70 employees will be relocated <br />from the Utility Plaza facility (Utility Plaza) to Orange Square, When the move is complete, Utility Plaza will <br />be vacated saving RPU approximately $400,000 in annual lease expense. <br />As part of the Customer Service move to Orange Square, the existing lobby will be remodeled to incorporate <br />payment stations to serve RPU customers. The existing Board Room will be utilized on a regular basis as a <br />meeting facility and conference room for the customer, service and other RPLI divisions. Access to the <br />existing Board Room will also be limited by the design of the new customer service lobby. <br />The rehabilitation of the 2800 square feet site will include an entrance lobby with display casework, a Board <br />table to accommodate 24 paM cipants, a public seating area to accommodate 50 citizens and staff, an area <br />for public comment, a presentation area, wireless internet, televisions for the audience and staff, auxiliary <br />storage spaces, and various supporting AJV equipment, <br />
