The issue for Board of Public Utilities consideration is approval of a $7,569..22 increase to Purchase <br />Order No. 135377 to include California sales taxes fo), equipment and materials purchased for the Data <br />Acquisition and Handling System (DAHS) installation. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />That the Board of Public Utilities approve the $7,569.22 increase to Purchase Or-der Noe 135377 to <br />inciude California sales taxes. <br />BACKGROUND: <br />The DAHS is an integral component of a power plant air pollution monitoring system, required as part of <br />each plant's United States Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) and South Coast Air Quality <br />1* <br />Manage Districts' %SCAQMD) operating permit. <br />On June 21, 2013 the Board of Public Utilities (Board) approved the Professional Services Agreement <br />and three-year service contract with Babcock and Wilcox Power Generation Group (B&VV), in an amount <br />riot to exceed $232,686 to replace DAHS equipment at RPU's power generating plants. <br />In januany 2014 this project was successfully completed and RERC, Springs and Clearwater remain, in <br />full compliance with EPA and SCAQMD regulations. <br />California sales tax was omitted from the original amount approved by the Board. Because the original <br />approval was for a not-to-exceed amount, staff cannot use the routine 10% contingency and thus a <br />change order in the amount of $7,569.22 is required to add the California sales tax. <br />FISCAL IMPACT: <br />Sufficient funds are available in the electric generating machinery and equipment accounts 612OXKX- <br />462200, <br />Prepared by: Reiko A.
