The issue for Board of Public Utilities consideration is approval of a $7,569..22 increase to Purchase Order No. 135377 to include California sales taxes fo), equipment and materials purchased for the Data Acquisition and Handling System (DAHS) installation. RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of Public Utilities approve the $7,569.22 increase to Purchase Or-der Noe 135377 to inciude California sales taxes. BACKGROUND: The DAHS is an integral component of a power plant air pollution monitoring system, required as part of each plant's United States Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) and South Coast Air Quality 1* Manage Districts' %SCAQMD) operating permit. On June 21, 2013 the Board of Public Utilities (Board) approved the Professional Services Agreement and three-year service contract with Babcock and Wilcox Power Generation Group (B&VV), in an amount riot to exceed $232,686 to replace DAHS equipment at RPU's power generating plants. In januany 2014 this project was successfully completed and RERC, Springs and Clearwater remain, in full compliance with EPA and SCAQMD regulations. California sales tax was omitted from the original amount approved by the Board. Because the original approval was for a not-to-exceed amount, staff cannot use the routine 10% contingency and thus a change order in the amount of $7,569.22 is required to add the California sales tax.
