ISSUE <br />The ft em for Board of Public Utilities consideration is approval of the capital expenditure in the amount <br />of $580,000 to construct the Mobley Avenue and l anigan Way Water Main Replacement Project. <br />That the Board of Public <br />1328028, which includes <br />construction contingency <br />Project. <br />Utilities approve the capital expenditure of $580,000 for Work Order No. <br />all design, construction, paving, contract administration, inspection and <br />costs for the Mobley Avenue and Branigan Way Water Main Replacement <br />The construction of the Mobley Avenue and Branigan Way Water Main Replacement Project is part of <br />Riverside Public Utilities' (RPLI) on-going water main replacement program to replace old and high <br />priority leaky mains. The project area consists of existing 6-inch and 8-inch asbestos cement pipe, and <br />8-inch steel pipe water mains that were installed between 1955 and 1960 and have recently <br />experienced nurnerousleaks, requiring repairs. <br />As part of their Pavement Management Program, the Public Works Department (PW) has identified <br />Mobley Avenue and Branigan Way as upcoming streets to be repaired arid paved, This water main <br />replacement proiect was developed in close collaboration with PW in order to coordinate paving and <br />water main replacements. Based on their leak history and the upcoming paving project, these water <br />pipelines have been identified as high priorities for replacernent. <br />The work will entail the construction of approAmately 1,910 linear feet of 8-•inch ductile iron pipe, five <br />fire hydrants, 28 service tie- ovens and three system connections. The work identified will be <br />constructed by the Water Division's field forces. Other than routine service tie-overs, this project is not <br />expected to disrupt service to RPU water customers. <br />This project is adjacent to Myra Linn School. The work will be performed during the summer vacation <br />period to minimize impact to the school. <br />Once the grew water pipelines are installed, RPU will be responsible for standard trench repaving per <br />the PW standard. Staff will solicit paving bids for paving the trench area from RPU's Paving Contractor <br />Panel, A budgetary estimate for the paving work has been included in this authorization. PW will <br />complete the other street repairs and final pavement cap as part of their contract, <br />
