1 ORDINANCE NO. 6424 <br /> 2 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF RIVERSIDE, CALIFORNIA, <br /> AMENDING TITLE 6 OF THE RIVERSIDE MUNICIPAL CODE TO <br /> 3 AMEND CHAPTER 6.04 TO ADD "RECYCLABLE MATERIALS" TO <br /> THE CHAPTER'S TITLE; TO DEFINE THE TERM "RECYCLABLE"; <br /> 4 AND TO PROHIBIT THE PLACEMENT OF ANY SUBSTANCES IN A <br /> RECYCLABLE MATERIAL CONTAINER OR TO TAMPER OR MEDDLE <br /> 5 WITH SUCH CONTAINER OR TO SCAVENGE, COLLECT OR REMOVE <br /> ITEMS THEREFROM. <br /> 6 <br /> 7 The City Council of the City of Riverside, California, does ordain as follows: <br /> 8 Section 1: Chapter 6.04 of the Riverside Municipal Code is hereby amended by <br /> 9 amending the title to read as follows: <br /> 10 "Chapter 6.04 SOLID WASTE AND RECYCLABLE MATERIAL" <br /> 11 Section 2: Chapter 6.04 of the Riverside Municipal Code is hereby amended by adding to <br /> 12 section 6.04.010 (2) the following: <br /> 13 "'Recyclable' means any paper, glass, cardboard, plastic, used motor oil, ferrous metal, <br /> aluminum, or any item or material that has been separated from solid waste, and has an <br /> 14 economic value, and is deposited in a recyclable material receptacle provided by the city or <br /> in a privately-owned receptacle on which the City's official sticker is placed designating said <br /> 15 receptacle to be recyclable material for the City to collect." <br /> 16 Section 3: Chapter 6.04 of the Riverside Municipal Code is hereby amended by amending <br /> 17 section 6.04.075 "Receptacle Usage" to read as follows: <br /> 18 "6.04.075 RECEPTACLE USAGE. No person other than the owner or agent or employee <br /> of the owner of a solid waste or recyclable material receptacle, a solid waste hauler or the <br /> 19 person or agent or employee of the person for whom a solid waste or recyclable material <br /> receptacle is contracted or placed shall place any substance or material in a solid waste or <br /> 20 recyclable material receptacle, or tamper or meddle with such receptacle or its contents, or <br /> scavenge, collect, or remove items therefrom." <br /> 21 <br /> 22 Section 4: The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this ordinance and cause <br /> 23 publication once in a newspaper of general circulation in accordance with Section 414 of the Charter <br /> 24 of the City of Riverside.
