ISSUE <br />The issue for Board. of Public Utilities consideration is approval of a capital expenditure of $74,311 for Work <br />ON-der No. 1413963 to extend a fiber optic cable network to the University of California, Riverside (UCR) <br />facility located at 3499 Tenth Street under the existing Fiber Use License Agreement- <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />That the Board of Public Utilities approve the estimated capital expenditure of $74,311 for Work Order No. <br />1413963 to build a fiber optic cable neSmjorkfor a primary communication path to the UCR facility located at <br />3499 Tenth Street. <br />BACKGROUND: <br />Riverside Public Utilities (RP U) and UCR entered into Fiber Use License Agreement ("Agreement") on <br />January 7, 2005, whereby the City licensed to the Regents the use of certain strands of fiber in the fiber <br />systern. <br />The UCIR Communications Department requested that RPU provide a pair of dark fiber optic lines from their <br />facility located inside RPU's University Substation to their facility located at 3499 Tenth Street, <br />To provide this service, RPU will extend fiber optic cable from its existing fiber optic network at Riverside <br />Substation to UCR'S facility at an estimated reimbursable cost of $74,3111 . The Regents of U will execute <br />an amendment to the Agreement to include the leasing of the tvio additional strands in the fiber system for <br />communication. <br />The engineering, desialn, construction, commissioning and testing will be performed by RPU staff, <br />F12CAL IMPACT: <br />
