Board Memorandum <br />MAIM <br />capital Approve the estimated ` - of $250,000 for Emergency Work Order No. <br />1416699 in accordance with Article X11, Section 1202 (b) of the Riverside City Charter; and <br />/ Authorize e award of bid lowest responsible bidder permanent p ate' i, i, repairs, <br />temporary On Sunday, February 16, 2014, a section of 12 kV underground cable faulted on Strasbourg Drive, <br />westerly of Monroe Street. Crews were unable to remove the existing underground cable and installed a <br />- above ground and between houses in order to at - restoration of <br />services to nearby residences while permanents repairs were being made to the system. <br />As the above ground 12 kV shoe-fly is between residences, energized and relatively unprotected from <br />contact with the public, staff determined that there was an urgent necessity to preserve public health 4 <br />sought approval for the work under Riverside City Charter, Article X11, Section 1202(b). Approval of th(� <br />emergency work was obtained by the Public Utilities General Manager on February 19, 2014. <br />Section 1202 of Article XII of the Riverside City Charter provides the powers and duties of the <br />Department Public Utilities.
