W A T Ild IR f IN G YR fG Y 8. w V hi. <br />RIVERSIDE PUBLIC UTILITIES <br />6iffiil& <br />BOARD OF PUBLIC UTILITIES DATE: February 21, 2014 <br />ITEM NO: 3 <br />SUBJECT: SINGLE FAMILY RESIDENTIAL DEVELOPMENT TRACT 35932 -1 — WORK <br />ORDER NO. 1208833 <br />ISSUE: <br />The issue for Board of Public Utilities consideration is approval of the capital expenditure in the amount <br />of $53,157.00 and Work Order No. 1208833 associated with the single family residential development <br />Tract 35932 -1. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />That the Board of Public Utilities approve the capital expenditure of $53,157.00 and Work Order No. <br />1208833 which includes construction and inspection services associated with the single family <br />residential development Tract 35932 -1, <br />BACKGROUND: <br />On February 22, 2011, the City Council approved Tentative Tract Map 35932 associated with the <br />development of 111 single family residential lots located along La Sierra Avenue near Indiana Avenue. <br />Upon City Council approval, the developer divided the Tentative Tract Map into two phases, Tract <br />35932 -1 and Tract 35932. Tract 35932 -1 consists of 64 lots with the remaining 47 lots associated with <br />Tract 35932. <br />In order to support the project's water demands, the developer obtained approval from the Riverside <br />Public Utilities (RPU) Water Division to construct a potable water system. The developer hired a <br />Registered Civil Engineer to prepare a water plan in conformance with the RPU's Standard Plans and <br />Specifications. RPU approved the water plan on February 5, 2014. <br />In support of the development and in order to ensure RPU protects the water quality provided to its <br />customers, staff will perform all construction activities related to connection with the existing water <br />system. This requires that RPU staff install three 8 -inch system connections, abandon two 4 -inch <br />waterline segments, install one 2 -inch landscape water service and meter and relocate an existing fire <br />hydrant. RPU will also provide inspection for the 8 -inch and 4 -inch waterlines constructed by the <br />developer's licensed contractor. <br />On January 31, 2014, the developer paid the required fees and charges as set forth in Water Rules 10 <br />and 11 in the amount of $223,973.72, of which, $53,157.00 is allocated towards the construction and <br />inspection related services provided by RPU. <br />FISCAL IMPACT: <br />The total capital expenditure for Work Order No. 1208833 is estimated to be $53,157.00. Sufficient <br />funds are available in the Public Utilities' Water System Expansion Account No. 6230000 - 470701 and <br />are fully paid for by the developer of the project. <br />
