Call to Order: <br /> Meeting was called to order at 4:02 p.m. by Chair Ian Barraza; a quorum was present. <br /> <br />2. Review of Minutes: <br />The minutes of the November 20, 2013 meeting were reviewed and approved as presented. <br /> <br />3. Riverside Policy Department (RPD) Cultural Diversity Training: <br /> Representatives of the RPD Sergeants Payne and Hudson, and Officer Baird explained all RPD Officers are <br /> required to complete 40 hours of Cultural Diversity Training over the course of two years. They expressed <br /> the desire to have MDCC members help craft the training component relevant to deaf/hard-of-hearing <br /> individuals, as well as assist with the actual class presentations. Although the Department will be <br /> completing the current two-year training cycle in December of 2014, work will need to begin on the new <br /> course in September or October to ensure it is ready for next round of classes beginning in January 2015. <br /> Participation in the actual classes will require a commitment of one hour per month for two years. Several <br /> suggestions were made by MDCC members about inclusions in the planning process. <br /> <br />4. Public Comments: <br /> None. <br /> <br />5. Reports/Follow-Up: <br /> Treasurer’s Report – Members reviewed the attached summary for the month ending December 31, 2013 <br />reflecting MDCC funds as follows: BBVA = $15,316.68 and City account = $8,487.61. Total funds available <br />as of October 31 equal $23,804.29. <br /> <br /> Deaf Awareness Week (DAW) – <br /> 1. 2012 Statement of Income/Expenditures Review – Postponed due to absence of Lisa Price. An update <br /> on the 2012 Molina sponsorship funds is needed and Bummy Burstein said he believes the MDCC is due <br /> approximately $200 from the 2012 opportunity drawing. <br /> <br /> <br />
