METROPOLITAN MUSEUM BOARD MINUTES <br />September 9, 2014 <br /> <br />Present Museum Staff Present <br />David Barnhart, Chair (late) Sarah Suverkrup Mundy, Museum Director <br />Chuck Wilson, Vice Chair Margie Haupt, Arts & Cultural Affairs Manager <br />Holly Redfern <br />Yolanda Esquivel <br />Elio Palacios, Jr. <br />Mary Hughes <br />Bud Minton <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER <br />The meeting was called to order at 4:10p.m. <br /> <br />APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br />The minutes from August 12, 2014 were approved with the following corrections: <br /> <br />1.Clarify absence motion was for C. Wilson <br /> <br />2.Item 5 Action Item- Clarify that E. Palacios motioned to approve the Museum Mission, Vision & <br />Value Statement. Motion seconded by Y. Esquivel. Passed unanimously <br /> <br />3.Under Discussion/ Action Items- Agenda item 6 (Oral report on Washington, DC trip) should be <br />under Museum Operations as an informational item and agenda item 7 (Annual Code of Ethics <br />review) should be under Chairman’s Report. <br />Motion: H. Redfern <br />Second: M. Hughes <br />Ayes: All <br /> <br />CHAIRMAN’S REPORT <br />D. Barnhart arrived to the meeting. <br /> <br />The Government Affairs Committee held a Code of Ethics meeting on Friday, September 5 at City Hall <br />with a large number in attendance, including chairs from City Boards and Commissions. Discussion <br />ensued regarding complaints, enforcement of and complaint procedures. The question of neutrality on <br />hearing complaints about peers was discussed. The suggestion to City Council is to re-evaluate the <br />complaint procedure and consider having outside council/ members that are not from a City Board or <br />Commission. Discussion of goals for the Committee took place without any conflicts of interest. <br /> <br />D. Barnhart and S. Mundy attended the RMA retreat on August 14th. The RMA’s mission is to support <br />the Museum as a whole including the Harada House and Heritage House. <br /> <br />REPORT ON MUSEUM OPERATIONS <br /> Arts and Cultural Affairs Division (ACAD) update <br />1. <br />The report was included with the Board packet. M. Haupt reported that Gema Ramirez will be <br />leaving the Arts & Cultural Affairs division for another employment opportunity. Recruitment for <br />the position will take place. 1 <br /> <br />Many events and shows will be taking place this fall at the Fox and Riverside Municipal <br />Auditorium. We will be celebrating Arts & Innovation with the Riverside Arts Council at the <br />Mayor’s Celebration on October 11 at the Riverside Municipal Auditorium. The Riverside Fox <br />Theater Foundation is helping the Students at Broadway with fundraising to cover cost of seats <br />which are approximately $300 per show.
