BOARD OF PUBLIC UTILITIES <br /> MARCH 5, 2015 <br /> ITEM NO. 9 <br /> 2015 Federal Legislative Platform <br /> As the 12th largest city in the state and the "hub" of Inland Southern California, the <br /> City of Riverside recognizes that policy decisions at the federal level will continue <br /> to affect a broad range of issues that affect residents' overall quality of life, <br /> including job creation, homeownership, public safety, the environment and <br /> transportation. <br /> The City of Riverside strongly believes in working closely with legislators to advance the <br /> City's legislative goals. As a City of more than 314,000 people with its own utility, <br /> Riverside has a keen interest in how legislation could affect the City's ability to create <br /> jobs, improve residents' quality of life and continue to provide reliable and affordable <br /> water and power service to its customers. <br /> The City of Riverside's annual Legislative Platform spells out the City's legislative <br /> priorities, formalizes the positions the City of Riverside is supporting on various issues <br /> and explains why those positions are so important to the City. However, if issues arise <br /> after the platform is finalized, please do not hesitate to reach out to City staff if there is <br /> any question on where the City of Riverside might stand, <br /> Mayor Rusty Bailey, the Riverside City Council and Interim City Manager Lee C. <br /> McDougal look forward to a productive and fruitful legislative session working with our <br /> legislators to ensure that new laws and changes to existing laws improve the lives of all <br /> California residents. <br /> k <br /> i <br /> There remain ongoing legislative challenges at the Federal level.
