W A T E R E N E R G Y I. i F F <br /> RIVERSIDE PUBLIC UTILITIES <br /> N <br /> Board Memorandum <br /> PUBLIC UTILITIES <br /> BOARD OF PUBLIC UTILITIES DATE: APRIL 2, 2015 <br /> ITEM NO: 13 <br /> SUBJECT: MAGNOLIA 4 KV TO 12 KV UNDERGROUND CONVERSION —WORK ORDER NO. <br /> 1411795 <br /> ISSUE: <br /> The issue for Board of Public Utilities consideration is approval of the capital expenditure of $2,250,000 <br /> for Work Order No. 1411795 for Magnolia area 4 kV to 12 kV underground conversion. <br /> RECOMMENDATION: <br /> That the Board of Public Utilities approve the estimated capital expenditure of $2,250,000 for Work Order <br /> No. 1411795 for the Magnolia areas 4 kV to 12 kV underground conversion. <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> The Electric System Master Plan (ESMP) recommends the conversion of all remaining 4 kV to 12 kV <br /> distribution infrastructure to improve system capacity and reliability. This work order is an important step <br /> in that conversion and the preparation to decommission Magnolia substation at Central Ave.at the 91 <br /> freeway. The work will upgrade facilities near Central Ave between Riverside Ave. and Victoria Ave. <br /> The work includes conversion of three 4 kV circuits to 12 kV, and includes installation of approximately <br /> 2,035 trench feet of conduit, installation of 2,444 circuit feet of new primary and secondary cable and the <br /> removal of 2,320 circuit feet of primary cable. The scope also includes installation of one new pad- <br /> mounted switch, four new pad-mounted junction cabinets, replacement and upgrade of seven pad- <br /> mounted transformers, and related underground distribution facilities. <br /> Riverside Public Utilities (RPU) engineering staff performed the design to eliminate any negative visual <br /> impacts to the project and surrounding area, with sensitivity to the existing neighborhood, and within City <br /> Planning guidelines for the designated area of the project. <br /> The project breakdown is proposed as follows: <br /> Project Breakdown <br /> Engineering Performed By: RPU engineering staff <br /> Civil Construction Performed By: Contractor (Formal Bid Pending) <br /> Electrical Work Performed By: RPU field forces <br /> Anticipated Start Date: June 1, 2015 <br /> Anticipated Duration: 17 weeks <br /> Coordination Required With: PW Inspector, Contractor, RPU Field Superintendent <br /> Reimbursements: None <br /> FISCAL IMPACT: <br /> The capital expenditure for Work Order No. 1411795 is estimated to be $2,250,000 as summarized in the <br /> following table: <br />
