The project will involve abandoning approximately 5,800
linear feet of existing water pipelines located within the Riverside Municipal Airport (RMA) that are in
conflict with recent and planned expansions at RMA. In addition, several existing fire hydrants located
along the taxiway will be relocated to the edge of RMA property to eliminate obstructions.
The work will generally entail the construction of approximately 2,020 linear feet of 12-inch ductile iron
pipe, 14 fire hydrants, 24 service tie-overs, five system connections, along with all necessary fittings and
appurtenances. The work identified will be constructed by the Water Division's field forces. Other than
routine service tie-overs, this project is not expected to disrupt service to RPU water customers.
Once the new water pipelines are installed, RPU will be responsible for standard trench repaving in the
street areas per the Public Works Department (PW) standard. Staff will solicit bids for paving the trench
area from RPU's Paving Contractor Panel. A budgetary estimate for the paving work has been included
in this authorization.
The project breakdown is as follows:
Project Breakdown:
Engineering Performed By: RPU Engineering staff
Construction Performed By: RPU Field Forces
Anticipated Start Date: June 2015
Anticipated Duration: ■ 3 months
■ RPU Field Forces
Coordination Required With: ■ Public Works
■ Riverside Municipal Airport
Reimbursements: None
