RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of Public Utilities provide feedback and recommendations to staff on the draft agenda, structure and timing of the joint workshop. BACKGROUND: For the first time in many years, the City Council and Board of Public Utilities (Board) will meet jointly. The workshop will start at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 7, 2015 and is expected to last two hours. The purpose of the workshop is to ensure alignment between the City Council and Board strategic planning efforts and goals, communicate current and future RPU challenges and opportunities, better understand the roles and responsibilities of the City Council and Board and to develop an action plan for the City Council and Board to ensure success related to RPU's Utility 2.0 initiative. This workshop will allow the City Council and Board to provide input to ensure common goals are reflected in each activity. Exercises will be designed to capture input and foster discussion around two key questions: 1) What are the challenges and opportunities for RPU in getting to Utility 2.0?; and, 2) As RPU moves toward Utility 2.0, how should the City Council and Board communicate and interact to ensure RPU success?
