'1 RESOLUTION NO. 19224 2 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RIVERSIDE, CALIFORNIA (1) WAIVING THE COMPETITIVE PROCUREMENT 3 REQUIREMENTS OF RESOLUTION NO. 17788; AND (2) AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASING SERVICES MANAGER TO ISSUE A PURCHASE ORDER TO 4 BAUER COMPRESSORS. 5 WHEREAS, the City of Riverside Fire Department has used a stationary air compressor 6 since 1979 at the Magnolia Center Fire Station for the purpose of refilling Self-Contained Breathing 7 Apparatus ("SCBA") used by Fire Department personnel for protection from toxic and hazardous 8 atmospheres encountered in the course of performing their duties; and 9 WHEREAS, the Magnolia Center Fire Station stationary air compressor is out of service 10 due to nineteen years wear and tear and no longer meets current safety standards; and 11 WHEREAS, the Fire Department has the opportunity to purchase from Bauer 12 Compressors ("Bauer") a UNICUS II SCBA Air Compressor Unit ("UNICUS II") that meets all 13 current safety standards and will fit at the Magnolia Center Fire Station; and 14 WHEREAS, the Fire Department may purchase a "demonstrator" unit of the UNICUS II 15 with only six hours of usage from Bauer for a total cost of $40,142.80, with a new model warranty, 16 free delivery and free training; and 17 WHEREAS, the City's Purchasing Services Manager has obtained price quotations from 18 other vendors for a new SCBA air compressor, as the other vendors do not have demonstrator 19 models available; and 20 WHEREAS, based on such price quotations which greatly exceed Bauer's price, City's 21 Purchasing Services Manager is satisfied that the best price, terms and conditions for the 22 procurement of the replacement air compressor have been negotiated with Bauer. 23 NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Riverside, 24 California, as follows: 25 Section 1: The competitive procurement requirements of the City's Purchasing 26 Resolution No. 17788 are hereby waived. 27 //
