'1 RESOLUTION NO. 19224 <br />2 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RIVERSIDE, <br /> CALIFORNIA (1) WAIVING THE COMPETITIVE PROCUREMENT <br />3 REQUIREMENTS OF RESOLUTION NO. 17788; AND (2) AUTHORIZING THE <br /> PURCHASING SERVICES MANAGER TO ISSUE A PURCHASE ORDER TO <br />4 BAUER COMPRESSORS. <br />5 WHEREAS, the City of Riverside Fire Department has used a stationary air compressor <br />6 since 1979 at the Magnolia Center Fire Station for the purpose of refilling Self-Contained Breathing <br />7 Apparatus ("SCBA") used by Fire Department personnel for protection from toxic and hazardous <br />8 atmospheres encountered in the course of performing their duties; and <br />9 WHEREAS, the Magnolia Center Fire Station stationary air compressor is out of service <br />10 due to nineteen years wear and tear and no longer meets current safety standards; and <br />11 WHEREAS, the Fire Department has the opportunity to purchase from Bauer <br />12 Compressors ("Bauer") a UNICUS II SCBA Air Compressor Unit ("UNICUS II") that meets all <br />13 current safety standards and will fit at the Magnolia Center Fire Station; and <br />14 WHEREAS, the Fire Department may purchase a "demonstrator" unit of the UNICUS II <br />15 with only six hours of usage from Bauer for a total cost of $40,142.80, with a new model warranty, <br />16 free delivery and free training; and <br />17 WHEREAS, the City's Purchasing Services Manager has obtained price quotations from <br />18 other vendors for a new SCBA air compressor, as the other vendors do not have demonstrator <br />19 models available; and <br />20 WHEREAS, based on such price quotations which greatly exceed Bauer's price, City's <br />21 Purchasing Services Manager is satisfied that the best price, terms and conditions for the <br />22 procurement of the replacement air compressor have been negotiated with Bauer. <br />23 NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Riverside, <br />24 California, as follows: <br />25 Section 1: The competitive procurement requirements of the City's Purchasing <br />26 Resolution No. 17788 are hereby waived. <br />27 // <br /> <br /> <br />
