RESOLUTION NO 19845 <br /> <br /> 2 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RIVERSIDE, <br /> CALIFORNIA, AUTHORIZING THE FILING OF AN APPLICATION WITH THE <br /> 3 CALIFORNIA INTEGRATED WASTE MANAGEMENT BOARD FOR THE PARK <br /> PLAYGROUND ACCESSIBILITY AND RECYCLING GRANT PROGRAM <br /> 4 (VILLARAIGOSA-KEELEY ACT) TO IMPROVE ACCESSIBILITY FOR THE <br /> MOBILITY-IMPAIRED THROUGH REFURB1SHMENT OF HARRISON PARK <br /> 5 PUBLIC PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT. <br /> <br />6 WHEREAS, the voters of the State of California approved the Safe Neighborhood Parks, <br />7 Clean Water, Clear Air, and Coastal Protection Bond Act of 2000 (Villaraigosa-Keeley Act), that <br />8 provides grants to local agencies in meeting state and federal accessibility standards related to <br />9 public playgrounds, and to conserve resources through use of recycled-content material in <br />10 upgrading public playgrounds; and <br />11 WHEREAS, the California Integrated Waste Management Board has been delegated the <br />12 responsibility for the administration of the grant program, setting up necessary procedures <br />13 governing application by local agencies, businesses and non-profit organizations under the <br />14 program; and <br />15 WHEREAS, the procedures established by the California Integrated Waste Management <br />16 Board require the applicant to certify by resolution approval of the application before submission <br />17 of the application to the State; and <br />18 WHEREAS, if awarded a grant, the applicant will enter into an agreement with the State of <br />19 California for the development of the project; and <br />20 WHEREAS, the City of Riverside Park and Recreation Department desires to submit a <br />21 grant to reburbish deteriorating playground equipment at Harrison Park and add rubber surlbcing <br />22 to meet standards for wheelchair accessibility under the Americans with Disabilities Act; and <br />23 WHEREAS, the City recognizes the need to use recyclable materials in order to conserve <br />24 landfill usage; <br />25 NOW, TEEFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Riverside, <br />26 California, as follows: <br />27 Section 12 That the City of Riverside City Council authorizes the submittal of an application to <br /> <br />City Altorney's Office <br />39110 Main Street <br />ll. iverside, CA 92522 <br />(9119) 826 5567 <br /> <br /> <br />
