Item 1 Public Comment No Public Comment CONSENT CALENDAR Item 2 Approval of the Minutes of May 14, 2014 Board Meeting Trustee Runyon moved with no corrections. Ayes: Trustees Evans, House, Ridgway, Runyon and Yonezawa. Opposed: N/A Abstained: Trustee Christmas Item 3 & 4 Approval of Trust Fund Expenditures; approval of Donations of $1,000 or more; and Trustee House moved with no corrections. Ayes: Trustees Christmas, Evans, House, Ridgway, Runyon and Yonezawa. Opposed: N/A Abstained: N/A Item 5 Update on Library Programs, Operations, and Special Program Requests PRESENTATIONS Item 6 Administrative Services Manager to Present'Library 101" The Administrative Services Manager, George Guzman, presented the Board with information regarding the Summer Reading Program. The June program calendar of events was provided to each Trustee, which displays all the summer performers at each branch with additional programs offered. An explanation of the Summer Reading Program was provided which included information about how the program promotes reading with incentives and educational programs. The Summer Reading Program is sponsored by; The Cove, Shakey's Pizza, Starbucks, Roller City 2001, City of Riverside Parks and Recreation, Adam's Motorsports and Marie Callendar's. Fund donations are provided by the Riverside Public Library Foundation, Friends of the Library, Provident Bank, Marie S. Roberts Pet Adoption and the Foundation for Kids. The Story Mobile has been participating by attending four City parks during the Summer Reading Program which began June 14th and will end August 2nd. The Adult Program runs through August 16th. Last year's Summer Reading Program received over 7,000 child and teen participants, and 262 adults. Nearly 9,500 children and adults attended the programs during the 2013 Summer Reading Program. The Main Library is the Summer Feed location for the "Lunch at the Library". Riverside Public library has partnered with the California Library Association, California Summer Meal Coalition and the Riverside Unified School District to provide a free lunch to children ages 18 and younger. The program is grant funded.
