RIVERSIDE PUBLIC LIBRARY BOARD OF LIBRARY TRUSTEES Minutes of: Meeting of the Board of Library Trustees Date of Meeting: May 19, 2014 Time of Meeting: 5:00 pm Meeting Location: Main Library 3581 Mission Inn Avenue Riverside, California 3resent: Tom Evans (Vice President) Judith Runyon (Secretary) Erin House Janet Lewis Linda Ridgway Arnold Rowe Michael Yonezawa Absent: Gary Christmas (President) Excused Alesia Fuller (Not Excused) Staff: Tonyo Kennon, Library Director George Guzman, Administrative Services Manager Cindie Krueger, Sr. Office Specialist Erin Gettis, Community Development Call to Order The meeting was called to order at 5:00 p.m. by Trustee Evans. Item 1 Public Comment Former Riverside Mayor Ronald O. Loveridge presented the Library with a silver plated trophy cup that once belonged to the City of Riverside's fifth Mayor, Lyman Van Wickle Brown. The inscription reads, "First Prize LVW Brown Best Four Boxes Grapefruit Class 9 ". Mayor Brown was the son of Judge E.G. Brown, one of Riverside's founders. Mayor Brown died in an automobile accident the some day he took office, Jan 4, 1922. The Mayor of Needles saw the cup at a yard sale, secured it and sent it to Mayor Loveridge, who presented it to the Library for its Local History collection. The Director Kennon followed up on eComment received at the April meeting. The customer was contacted and provided an update on status of auto repair manuals and databases. CONSENT CALENDAR Item 2 Approval of the Minutes of April 28, 2014 Board Meeting Per Trustee Runyon's request, a request was made during the April meeting that was not included on the April 28 minutes under item #11. These items included follow up on a public comment and correction on Library Organizational Chart. Trustee Rowe moved with corrections. Ayes: Trustees Evans, House, Lewis, Runyon, Ridgway, Rowe, and Yonezawa. Opposed: N/A Abstained: N/A tem 3 & 4 Approval of Trust Fund Expenditures; approval of Donations of $1,000 or more; and Trustee House moved with no corrections. Ayes: Trustees Evans, House, Lewis, Runyon, Ridgway, Rowe, and Yonezawa. Opposed: N/A Abstained: N/A PRESENTATIONS Item 5 Director Kennon to Present'Library 101: "Neighborhood Strategies: 26 in 26" Director Kennon provided a presentation on Neighborhood Strategies: 26 in 26 and the Library as Cornerstone. The Neighborhood Strategies: 26 in 26 is envisioned to be Neighbors working with Neighbors for Sustainable Neighborhood Change throughout Riverside's 26 Neighborhoods.
