Chief Innovation and Technology Officer Lea Deesing informed the Board that the department engages <br />in recruitment outreach by frequently hosting international and local student tours, frequently visiting job <br />fairs at college campuses and recruiting students from UCR, Cal Baptist, Chapman, ITT Tech and Cal <br />Poly. <br />Ms. Deesing informed the Board of the department's major accomplishments during fiscal year <br />2013/14. These accomplishments included The Hive Project Portal, tightening cyber security, engaging <br />the Riverside Government Transparency Portal and expanded the Open Data Portal. <br />2. Human Resources Board Ad -Hoc Committee Report — Alysia Webb, Board Member <br />• Board Member Alysia Webb presented the Board with a draft of proposed meeting rules for the Human <br />Resources Board. <br />• Board Member Tricia Eibs indicated that she would like to define what the Board is and what they are <br />charged to do. <br />• Deputy City Attorney Gregg Gu informed the Board that section 2.36.030 of the Riverside Municipal <br />Code specifies what authority the Board has. <br />3. Protocols Regarding Questions from the Public — Brenda Diederichs, Human Resources Director <br />• Human Resources Director Brenda Diederichs opened up discussion regarding protocols for questions <br />received from the public. Ms. Diederichs discussed different possibilities that the Board could use to <br />address public concerns. Ms. Diederichs proposed that the Board ask the public for clarification <br />regarding any comments made during the public comment portion of the agenda. <br />• The Human Resources Board requested that Ms. Diederichs report back to the Board at a future date <br />for all questions received during public comment. <br />• Board Member Alisha Webb inquired as to if the dynamics of an employee's employment can change <br />from classified to non - classified once they are hired. <br />• Human Resources Director Brenda Diederichs responded and indicated that the Human Resources <br />Department in partnership with the City Attorney's Office is conducting research on this topic and will <br />report back to the Board with an update at a future meeting. <br />4. Human Resources Director Updates — Brenda Diederichs, Human Resources Director <br />• Human Resources Director Brenda Diederichs informed the Board that a tentative agreement with <br />Riverside City Firefighters' Association was reached. Ms. Diederichs stated that the Human Resources <br />Department is busy implementing the terms of the MOU. <br />• Ms. Diederichs informed the Board that the Human Resources Department is collaborating with Public <br />Utilities in regards to an RFP for a succession planning talent module that will assist employees with <br />their career paths. <br />• Human Resources Director Brenda Diederichs informed the Board that interviews for the position of <br />City Attorney will be conducted the week of February 91n <br />• Human Resources Director Brenda Diederichs provided the Board with a verbal overview of separation <br />statistics for the 4th quarter of 2014. <br />Public Comment Period: <br />• Jason Hunter addressed the Board. <br />5.
