1 RESOLUTION NO. 19214 <br />2 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br /> RIVERSIDE, CALIFORNIA, SUPPORTING A UNIVERSITY-CITY <br />3 TOBACCO PACT WITH THE BEHAVIORAL HEALTH INSTITUTE, <br /> CALIFORNIA STATE UNIVERSITY SAN BERNARDINO (CSUSB). <br />5 WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Riverside has <br />6 placed a high priority on decreasing youth access to tobacco; <br />7 WHEREAS, the City of Riverside endorses a broad-based <br />8 public policy approach to community improvement and the promotion <br />9 of health for its youth; <br />10 WHEREAS, the community residents, youth, city officials, <br />11 and businesses participating the University-City PACT will <br />12 develop a more comprehensive understanding of tobacco and its <br />13 impacts on youth in our community and public policy approaches <br />14 that result in positive community benefit; <br />15 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the <br />16 City of Riverside, California, as follows: <br />17 Section 1. That the City Council of the City of <br />18 Riverside supports the University-City PACT concept as a means of <br />19 integrating health concerns into a community and scientific <br />20 approach to improving the overall environment in the City of <br />21 Riverside and intends to participate in the Project as <br />22 established by the Behavioral Health Institute, CSUSB and the <br />23 State of California Department of Health Services. <br />24 Section 2.
