HUMAN RESOURCES BOARD Meeting Minutes Monday, October 06, 2014 Opening: The regular meeting of the Human Resources Board was called to order at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, October 06, 2014 in the City Hall 7th Floor Mayor's Ceremonial Room by Chair Norman Powell. Present: Excused Absence: Unexcused Absence: Arthur Butler Rafael Elizalde Alysia Webb Lawrence Conn Holly Evans Norman Powell Sonya Dew (Arrived 4:05 p.m.) Tricia Eibs Colene Torres Brenda Diederichs Guests: Kris Martinez, General Services Director Carl Carey, Assistant General Services Director Public Comment Period: • Jason Hunter addressed the Board. A. Approval of September 08, 2014 Minutes Approved: Art Butler Second: Alysia Webb Ayes: All B. Agenda Items 1. Departmental Presentation — Kris Martinez, General Services Director • A verbal overview of the General Services Department was provided to the Board by General Services Director Kris Martinez. This included an overview of the department's retention /turnover rate, current number of employees, EEO breakdown and sick leave usage. • Mrs. Martinez informed the Board about internal recognition provided to employees to enhance morale, such as holiday luncheons, annual employee service awards and BBQ's. • Director Martinez informed the Board that the General Services Department Fleet Division was named Best Green Fleet in North America. 2. Set Date for Public Hearing to Review Human Resources Personnel Policies and Procedures — Brenda Diederichs, Human Resources Director • The date for the Public Hearing was scheduled for 3:30 p.m. on November 3, 2014, in the City Hall 7h Floor Mayor's Ceremonial Room. • Board Member Tricia Eibs motioned to schedule the Public Hearing for November 3, 2014, with a second by Vice -Chair Art Butler.
