<br />. <br /> <br />CITY OF RIVERSIDE <br /> <br />REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY MEMORANDUM <br /> <br />Honorable Mayor & Agency Members <br /> <br />Date: <br />Item No.: <br /> <br />July 11, 2000 <br />3 <br /> <br />Subject: Request to Award Bid No. 5740 for Building Demolition and Lot Clearance at 9644-9648 <br />Magnolia A venue - the Old Genesis Hotel <br /> <br />Background <br /> <br />On August 10, 1999 the Redevelopment Agency approved the bidding, contracting, and monetary expenditures <br />necessary to demolish the Old Genesis HoteL located at 9644-9648 Magnolia Avenue in the Arlington <br />neighborhood ("Property"). The above project involved demolishing and clearing all above and below ground <br />improvements from the Property. In exchange for demolition of structures on the Property, the City of Riverside <br />deeded the parcel to the Agency for development of a mixed-use retail project in conjunction with a future <br />Arlington library development. <br /> <br />Current Issue <br /> <br />On June 14,2000, the City's Purchasing Department received eight (8) bids on behalf of the Agency (see the <br />attached Bid Award Recommendation). The Department of Public Works and Development Department have <br />determined that the low bidder, Warren Duncan Contracting, was the lowest "responsive" bidder, and suitable to <br />complete the demolition project. <br /> <br />Fiscal Impact <br /> <br />The $30,050 in funds necessary to fund the demolition of the Property have previously been approved by the <br />Redevelopment Agency on August 10, 1999 from the Redevelopment Professional Services Accounts # 2805000- <br />421000 ($25,000) and 2800000-421000 ($5,050). <br /> <br />Alternatives <br />The Redevelopment Agency may choose not to pursue the demolition of the Property at this time. <br />Recommendations <br /> <br />That the Redevelopment Agency: <br /> <br />1. Award Bid No. 5740 in the amount of $30,050 to the low bidder, Warren Duncan Contracting, for the <br />demolition and clearance of the property located at 9644-9648 Magnolia A venue; and <br /> <br />2.
