STANDING RULES OF THE COMMISSION ON DISABILITIES <br />OF THE CITY OF RIVERSIDE <br />Pursuant to Section 804 of the Riverside City Charter, the Commission on <br />Disabilities hereby prescribes its standing rules and regulations, copies of which shall be kept <br />on file in the Office of the City Clerk where they shall be available for public inspection. <br />1. POWERS, DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS (RMC Section 2.66.040) <br />The Commission on Disabilities shall: <br />A. Advise the City Council on all matters affecting persons with <br />disabilities in the community. <br />B. Review community policies, programs and actions which affect <br />persons with disabilities and make appropriate recommendations to <br />the City Council. <br />C. Render advice and assistance as requested to other City boards and <br />commissions, to City departments, and to private agencies on matters <br />affecting persons with disabilities. <br />D. Identify the needs of persons with disabilities and create a public <br />awareness of these needs in areas such as employment, housing, <br />transportation, media, physical and communication accessibility and <br />other needed areas. <br />E. Promote greater awareness of the changing life patterns, <br />opportunities and responsibilities of persons with disabilities. <br />F. Promote the total integration of persons with disabilities into all <br />aspects of community life. <br />G. Perform other functions and duties as may be directed by the City <br />Council. <br />2. MEMBERS (RMC Section 2.66.030A) <br />A. Pursuant to Sections 800 and 803 of the Riverside City Charter, the <br />Commission on Disabilities shall be comprised of eleven (11) <br />members appointed by the Mayor and City Council. <br />B. Appointments to fill unexpired terms on the Commission shall be filled <br />in the same manner as original appointments. <br />C. Each member must be a qualified elector of the City at the time of the <br />appointment and throughout his/her service on the Commission. <br />D. Members who fail to maintain qualified elector status must resign from <br />the Commission or be removed in accordance with Section 802 of the <br />Riverside City Charter. <br />3. TERM OF OFFICE (Charter Section 802/RMC 2.66.030C) <br />A. The term of each member of the Commission shall be for four (4) <br />—1— <br />
