• Board Member Jerry Hurst indicated that he would like to see an example placed in policy (11-10) to <br /> include individuals that are in a volunteer capacity. <br /> • The Human Resources Board requested a minor change within policy (11-10). <br /> • Board Member Nancy Melendez motioned to accept policy (11-10) as amended, with a second by Board <br /> Member Sonya Dew. The motioned passed unanimously. <br /> • Board Member Sonya Dew motioned to accept policy (1-7) as presented, with a second by Board <br /> Member Jerry Hurst. The motioned passed unanimously. <br /> 3. Summer Work Experience Program Update—Jeremy Hammond, Deputy Human Resources Director <br /> • Deputy Human Resources Director Jeremy Hammond informed the Board that the Human Resources <br /> Department has explored options for external funding for the Summer Work Experience Program and <br /> has had no success. <br /> • Mr. Hammond informed the Board that the Human Resources Department will continue to work with <br /> department heads to place a small number of individuals within existing operating budget. <br /> • Board Member Sonya Dew requested that the Human Resources Department reach out to department <br /> heads prior to the end of the school year so that youth can have the opportunity to work all summer. <br /> 4. Human Resources Director Updates — Rhonda Strout, Human Resources Director <br /> • Human Resources Director Rhonda Strout indicated that the Chief Innovation Officer recruitment is <br /> complete and a selection has been announced. <br /> • Director Strout announced that the Human Resources Department will receive a Platinum Award from <br /> the American Heart Association for being recognized as a "Fit-Friendly Worksite." <br /> • Ms. Strout informed the Board of a partnership with UCR Diversity Leadership Institute. She indicated <br /> that diversity classes will be offered to City employees. <br /> • Human Resources Director Rhonda Strout provided the Board with the Human Resources Department <br /> Annual 2012 Accomplishments and Key Future Initiatives Brochure. Ms. Strout indicated that the <br /> brochure is broken down by each divisions' accomplishments and future initiatives. <br /> • Chair Norman Powell requested that the Accomplishment Brochure be posted on the City website. <br /> 5.
