<br /> CHILD DEVELOPMENT CENTERS TO OPERATE THE NATI FUENTES CENTRO
<br /> DE NINOS AT BORDWELL PARK
<br /> ISSUE:
<br /> The issue for City Council consideration is approval of a Second Amendment to the License
<br /> Agreement with Concilio Child Development Centers to operate the Nati Fuentes Centro de Ninos
<br /> at Bordwell Park.
<br /> RECOMMENDATIONS:
<br /> That the City Council:
<br /> 1. Approve the Second Amendment to the License Agreement with Concilio Child
<br /> Development Centers to set the rent at $1,500 per month, subject to negotiation every two
<br /> years and extend the License Agreement for five years through to July 1, 2018; and
<br /> 2. Authorize the City Manager, or his designee, to execute the Second Amendment to the
<br /> License Agreement and any further amendments necessary to adjust rent during the term
<br /> of the License Agreement.
<br /> BACKGROUND:
<br /> On November 4, 2008, the City Council entered into a five-year License Agreement with Concilio
<br /> Child Development Centers (Concilio) to operate the Nati Fuentes Centro de Ninos at Bordwell
<br /> Park to provide childcare services for low to moderate income families. The License Agreement
<br /> provided that Concilio would not pay rent during the first three years; however, a monthly rental
<br /> would be negotiated for subsequent years.
<br /> Following negotiations, Concilio has agreed to pay a monthly rent of $1,500 per month effective
<br /> January 1, 2013 and subject to negotiation every two years. The License Agreement is also being
<br /> extended for five years, from July 1, 2013 through July 1, 2018.
