° M City Council Memorandum <br /> City �1"Arts&Innovation <br /> TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL DATE: DECEMBER 18, 2012 <br /> FROM: FIRE DEPARTMENT ITEM NO: 28 <br /> WARDS: ALL <br /> SUBJECT: AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CALIFORNIA EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT <br /> AGENCY AND THE CITY OF RIVERSIDE FIRE DEPARTMENT FOR <br /> TEMPORARY ASSIGNMENT OF VEHICULAR EQUIPMENT <br /> ISSUE: <br /> The issue for City Council consideration is acceptance of a temporary transfer of a 1,250 GPM <br /> Triple Combination Fire Engine, complete with equipment, from the California Emergency <br /> Management Agency (Cal EMA) to the City of Riverside Fire Department for mutual aid use. <br /> RECOMMENDATIONS: <br /> That the City Council: <br /> 1. Approve the acceptance of a 1,250 GPM Triple Combination Fire Engine, complete with <br /> equipment, for mutual aid use; <br /> 2. Approve the attached Agreement for Temporary Assignment of Vehicular Equipment; and <br /> 3. Authorize the City Manager, or designee, to execute the necessary contract documents <br /> with Cal-EMA. <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> The State of California purchases fire apparatus and equipment for the purpose of responding to <br /> incidents, in accordance with the California Fire Service and Rescue Emergency Mutual Aid Plan. <br /> Cal EMA is authorized to assign these fire apparatus and equipment to local jurisdictions <br /> throughout the State, under written agreements to be staged for Cal-EMA purposes, and for use <br /> by the local jurisdictions for mutual aid purposes. <br /> At this time, Cal EMA will provide the City of Riverside Fire Department with a 1,250 GPM Triple <br /> Combination Fire Engine, valued at $340,000, and associated equipment consisting of afire hose <br /> and appliances, valued at $42,000, for a total value of $382,000. <br /> 28-1 <br />
