Receive this update;
2. Support rehabilitation and enhancement of the existing Downtown Transit Center by the
Riverside Transit Agency;
3. Direct staff to work with Riverside Transit Agency to secure Federal and local grant funds
up to $7 million and coordinate all necessary studies, design, construction and
management of the new Multi-Modal Transit Center at the Downtown Transit Center site;
and
4. Authorize staff to negotiate with the Riverside Transit Agency (RTA) for long term lease
of the Downtown Transit Center site by the City to RTA for continued operation of the
Downtown Transit Center.
COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATION:
On August 27, 2012, the Transportation Committee (Chair Adams and Vice Chair Mac Arthur
present) received an update of the Multi-Modal Transit Center Feasibility and Design Study
(Member Melendrez was not present at the meeting due to conflict of interest as he owns
property within 500 feet of the Downtown Transit Center). The Transportation Committee
unanimously recommended that the City Council support rehabilitation and enhancement of the
existing Downtown Transit Center site in order for the Riverside Transit Agency to secure up to
$7 million in Federal and local grant funds to pay for all necessary studies, design, construction
and management of the project.
10-1
