CITY OF <br /> FIVER-SIDE <br /> Civ°f arts&lnnovatlon City Council Memorandum <br /> TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL DATE: September 11, 2012 <br /> FROM: COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT ITEM NO: 17 <br /> PLANNING DIVISION <br /> WARD: 7 <br /> SUBJECT: PLANNING CASE P12-0066 — SUMMARY VACATION OF EXCESS PUBLIC <br /> RIGHT-OF-WAY FOR THE LA SIERRA ACADEMY—4900 GOLDEN AVENUE <br /> ISSUE: <br /> The issue for City Council consideration is a proposal by Andrew Walcker of IW Consulting <br /> Engineers on behalf of the La Sierra Academy to summarily vacate an approximately 11-foot <br /> wide by 822-foot long segment of excess public right-of-way on the westerly side of Golden <br /> Avenue and an approximately 12-foot wide by 766-foot long segment of excess public right-of- <br /> way on the northerly side of Pierce Street contiguous to the La Sierra Academy. The La Sierra <br /> Academy is located on the northwest corner of Golden Avenue and Pierce Street, at 4900 Golden <br /> Avenue, in the RE — Residential Estate Zone. <br /> RECOMMENDATIONS: <br /> That the City Council: <br /> 1. Approve Planning Case P12-0066 to summarily vacate the approximately 11-foot wide <br /> by 822-foot long segment of excess public right-of-way on the westerly side of Golden <br /> Avenue and an approximately 12-foot wide by 766-foot long segment of excess public <br /> right-of-way on the northerly side of Pierce Street, and authorize the preparation of a <br /> Certificate of Compliance to incorporate the vacated area into the La Sierra Academy <br /> property at 4900 Golden Avenue; <br /> 2. Adopt the attached summary vacation resolution (Exhibit 3); and <br /> 3. Authorize the City Manager, or his designee, to execute quitclaim deeds as necessary. <br /> 17-1 <br />
