rLi <br />C,T'1 OF <br />City Council Memorandum <br />City �fArts & Innovation <br />TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL DATE: April 24, 2012 <br />FROM: PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT ITEM NO: 27 <br />WARD: 3 <br />SUBJECT: BEATTY DRIVE ESTABLISHMENT OF 2 -HOUR PARKING ZONE — RESOLUTION <br />ISSUE <br />The issue for City Council consideration is establishment of a 2 -Hour Parking Zone on the south <br />side of Beatty Drive east of Magnolia Avenue. <br />RECOMMENDATIONS <br />That the City Council: <br />Adopt a resolution to establish a "2 -Hour Parking At All Times" zone on the south side of <br />Beatty Drive from 20 feet east of Magnolia Avenue to 45 feet easterly thereof; and <br />2. Authorize and direct the Traffic Engineer to revise the specific pages of the Master Parking <br />Schedule necessary to incorporate the amendment and distribute the revised pages to the <br />appropriate personnel with directions to delete the original pages and insert the revised <br />pages in the appropriate tables. <br />COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION <br />On March 7, 2012, the Parking, Traffic and Streets (PT &S) Commission reviewed this matter; 8 of <br />12 members were present. The Commission voted unanimously to recommend establishment of a <br />2 -Hour Parking Zone on the south side of Beatty Drive east of Magnolia Avenue as proposed. <br />BACKGROUND <br />The Public Works Department received a request from Papa John's Pizza located at the southeast <br />corner of Beatty Drive and Magnolia Avenue to establish a 2 -Hour Parking Zone on the south side <br />of Beatty Drive adjacent to their business. The proposed 2 -Hour Parking Zone would prohibit long- <br />term parking and provide short -term on- street parking opportunities for area business patrons and <br />Papa John's pizza delivery drivers. <br />FISCAL IMPACT <br />The cost of sign installation is nominal. Funding is available in the existing Public Works <br />Department budget. <br />27 -1 <br />
