City Council Memorandum <br />TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCILDATE: April 24, 2012 <br />FROM: PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT ITEM NO: <br /> WARD: All <br />SUBJECT: SEIZING OUR DESTINY - 2012 ANTI-GRAFFITI PUBLIC SERVICE <br />ANNOUNCEMENT (PSA) VIDEO CONTEST AND 2012 ANTI-GRAFFITI POSTER <br />CONTEST AWARD WINNERS AND GRAFFITI PROGRAM ENHANCEMENT PLAN <br />STATUS UPDATE <br />ISSUES: <br />The issues for City Council consideration are to recognize the winners of the 2012 Anti-Graffiti PSA <br />Video Contest and the 2012 Anti-Graffiti Poster Contest and to receive the Graffiti Program <br />Enhancement Plan. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />That the City Council recognize and award cash prizes to the 2012 Anti-Graffiti PSA Video Contest <br />and 2012 Anti-Graffiti Poster Contest winners, and receive the Graffiti Program Enhancement Plan <br />Status Update. <br />BACKGROUND: <br />On September 20, 2011, the City Council approved the Public Works Department 2012 Anti-Graffiti <br />PSA Video Contest and the 2012 Anti-Graffiti Poster Contest, both providing the following cash <br />awards: <br />2012 Anti-Graffiti PSA Video Contest 2012 Anti-Graffiti Poster Contest <br />stst <br /> 1 Place - $1,000 cash prize 1 Place - $ 500 cash prize <br />ndnd <br /> 2 Place - $ 500 cash prize 2 Place - $ 250 cash prize <br />rdrd <br /> 3 Place - $ 250 cash prize 3 Place - $ 125 cash prize <br />Cash prizes for the 2012 Anti-Graffiti PSA Video Contest will be divided equally amongst all <br />members of a team ranging from one to five high school students. The 2012 Anti-Graffiti Poster <br />Contest rules only allowed individual entries, so the winning students will receive the entire award. <br />Winners were selected by a panel of city staff. Winning videos were judged based on script, <br />required content, overall message, originality, and based on scripts promoting a positive anti-graffiti <br />
