V
CITY OF
R 1VEKSIDE
City Council Memorandum
City- 4. I its & Innovation
TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL DATE: March 27, 2012
FROM: RONALD O. LOVERIDGE, MAYOR ITEM NO: 14
WARDS: ALL
SUBJECT: ESTABLISHING A "Live Riverside" PROMOTIONAL CAMPAIGN
ISSUE:
The issue for City Council is whether to promote, attract and retain individuals and families to
live in Riverside via a "Live Riverside" promotional campaign.
RECOMMENDATION
That the City Council direct the City Manager to prepare a "LiveRiverside" promotional report for
return to the City Council within 90 days.
BACKGROUND
One of the most important personal choices for a family to make is where to live. Choosing a
location is about investing in a city and as I stated in this year's State of the City Address, "It is
important to encourage middle class families to live and educate their children in Riverside."
Like we did to encourage people to patronize our local retail shops and restaurants through the
"Shop Riverside" campaign, we should develop a "Live Rive rside" campaign. The campaign
would showcase the many recreational activities, cultural, high tech, extracurricular educational
offerings, and lifestyle conveniences as well as economic opportunities our City has to offer to
ensure people increasingly make Riverside their choice for residency.
FISCAL IMPACT
There is no fiscal impact as a result of this report.
Prepared by:
Ronald O. Loveridge, ayor
Approved as to form:
Gregory P. Priamos, City Attorney
iV
