Approve the expenditures totaling $776,682 for the law enforcement related items as <br />outlined in this report; and <br />2. Authorize a supplemental appropriation in the amount of $492,082 from the Federal <br />Asset Forfeiture Account No. 0000721-225111; $151,600 from the Federal Treasury <br />Asset Forfeiture Account No. 0000721 - 225112; and $133,000 from the State Asset <br />Forfeiture Account No. 0000721-225110 to the ,appropriate Police Department accounts <br />shown on the attached spreadsheet. <br />BACKGROUND <br />Federal and State legislation allows for funds seized by law enforcement during the <br />investigation of specific narcotics law violations to be forfeited to the investigating law <br />enforcement organizations. These funds are restricted in use to law enforcement and must be <br />used to supplement, not supplant, the Police Department's annual budget. <br />The proposed expenditures include equipment, supplies and services that help support the <br />City's law enforcement operations. The items requested this year include the purchase of five <br />marked patrol vehicles and two motorcycles. Other costs include support for the Community <br />Services Bureau, tactical equipment, undercover funds and other miscellaneous items <br />(Attachment 1) for a total of $776,682. <br />33 -1 <br />
