City Council Memorandum <br />TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCILDATE: December 13, 2011 <br />FROM: POLICE DEPARTMENT ITEM NO: <br />WARD: ALL <br />SUBJECT: CITY OF RIVERSIDE OFFICIAL POLICE TOW SERVICE AGREEMENT <br />EXTENSION <br />ISSUE: <br />The issue presented for council action is whether to approve a one year extension of the current tow <br />truck service agreement with thirteen (13) area tow companies through December 31, 2012. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />That the City Council approve and authorize the City Manager, or his designee, to execute a one <br />year extension for the Official Police Tow Service Agreements between the City of Riverside and <br />the 13 tow companies listed below to extend the term of agreements through December 31, 2012. <br />BACKGROUND: <br />In accordance with the provisions contained in Chapter 5.15 of the Riverside Municipal Code, <br />“Establishment and Regulation of Official Police Tow Service in the City of Riverside”, <br />representatives of the Police Department negotiated terms and conditions with the thirteen (13) tow <br />companies listed below that have been providing tow service for the Police Department: <br />Bauman’s Towing Certified Towing <br />Double A Towing Exclusive Towing <br />Inland Towing Patriot Towing <br />Master Mechanic Towing Victoria Towing <br />Pepe’s Towing Sierra Towing <br />Royal Towing Triple L Towing <br />Tippy’s Towing <br />The terms of the amended agreement were approved by the City Council in February of 2008 and <br />authorized contracted services with the Official Police Tow Service (OPTS) providers through <br />December 31, 2010. The agreement further authorized two (2), one (1) year extensions thereafter, <br />in one (1) year increments. <br />These companies have been providing good service to the Police Department and therefore, the <br />
