^� �� m <br />(e� ,f�t�� City Council Memorandum <br />TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL DATE: DECEMBER 13, 2011 <br />FROM: PARKS, RECREATION AND COMMUNITY <br />SERVICES DEPARTMENT ITEM NO: 44 <br />WARD: ALL <br />SUBJECT: CONTRACT AWARD — ANNUAL JANITORIAL MAINTENANCE SERVICES <br />FOR VARIOUS CITY COMMUNITY CENTERS, VALLEY MAINTENANCE <br />CORP. <br />ISSUE: <br />The issue for City Council's consideration is award of a contract to Valley Maintenance Corp. of Los <br />Angeles, California, for the annual janitorial maintenance of various City community centers. <br />RECOMMENDATIONS <br />That the City Council: <br />1. Authorize award of the attached Agreement with Valley Maintenance Corp. in the amount <br />of $236,700 for the Annual Janitorial Maintenance Services for Various Community <br />Centers, during the period of January 1, 2012 through December 31, 2012; and <br />2. Authorize the City Manager, or his designee, to execute up to four annual extensions <br />provided that annual amounts remain the same each year and are included in <br />subsequent years approved budgets. <br />BACKGROUND <br />The Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department is responsible for the janitorial <br />maintenance of the community centers and other facilities located within the City's parks. The <br />current contract with UMS, Inc. for the janitorial maintenance of various City community centers is <br />due to expire at the end of this month. <br />On October 19, 2011, the Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department posted a <br />Request for Proposals for Annual Janitorial Maintenance Services for City Community Centers <br />(RFP #1300) on the City's website. Four companies attended the non - mandatory pre -bid <br />conference and completed the facility tour held on October 27, 2011. On November 8, 2011, <br />proposals were received from two companies. <br />44 -1 <br />
