^ ��^"�:t�lt"��: <br />(e� ,f�t�� , City Council Memorandum <br />ity <br />TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL <br />FROM: FIRE DEPARTMENT <br />DATE: December 13, 2011 <br />ITEM NO: 41 <br />WARD: ALL <br />SUBJECT: AWARD OF BID NUMBER 7032 FOR PURCHASE OF DISASTER SHELTER <br />TRAILERS AND EQUIPMENT FOR THE RIVERSIDE UASI REGION. <br />ISSUE: <br />The issue for City Council's consideration is award of Bid No. 7032 to Global Protection LLC, New <br />Jersey for the purchase of Disaster Shelter Trailers and Equipment for the Riverside UASI region. <br />RECOMMENDATIONS <br />That the City Council award Bid 7032 to Global Protection LLC, New Jersey in the amount of <br />$199,543.11, for the purchase of thirteen (13) Disaster Shelter Trailers and Equipment. <br />BACKGROUND <br />In September 2009, the Riverside Urban Area Security Initiative was awarded $4,221,720 in grant <br />funds from the Department of Homeland Security. One of the approved projects is the procurement <br />of Disaster Shelter Trailers and Caches, to be placed strategically throughout the Inland Empire. <br />The award for this project was $200,000. <br />This project seeks to enhance regional Mass Care and Shelter capacities through the acquisition <br />and deployment of disaster shelter equipment. Thirteen (13) one hundred - person disaster shelter <br />trailers will be strategically placed within the Riverside UASI Region to enhance disaster sheltering <br />capabilities. These trailers are fully enclosed cargo trailers containing disaster shelter items such as <br />cots, bedding, and first aid items. <br />On November 10, 2011 the Purchasing Department placed the bid documents for Disaster Shelter <br />Trailers and Equipment on Active Bidders the City's approved site for solicitation of bids. Bidding <br />was open for twenty (20) days and closed on November 30, 2011. A total of 7 Vendors viewed the <br />bid, with 2 vendors submitting responses. A Bid Selection team comprised of staff from Purchasing <br />Division, Finance Department as well as the Fire Department reviewed the final bids submitted and <br />after evaluation have determined that Global Protection LLC was the lowest responsive and <br />responsible bid. The Purchasing Services Manager concurs with this item. <br />41 -1 <br />
