1 <br /> <br />ORDINANCE NO. 5259 <br /> <br /> 2 <br /> <br /> 3 <br /> <br /> 4 ~/ <br /> <br /> 5 <br /> <br /> 6 <br /> <br /> 7 <br /> <br /> 8 <br /> <br /> 9 <br /> <br />10 <br /> <br />11 <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF RIVERSIDE, CALIFORNIA, <br />AMENDING CHAPTERS 16.04, 16.08, 16.09, 16.10, 16.11, <br />16.12, and 16.32 OF THE RIVERSIDE MUNICIPAL CODE IN <br />ORDER TO ADOPT BY REFERENCE THE 1982 EDITIONS OF THE <br />UNIFORM BUILDING CODE, THE UNIFORM BUILDING CODE <br />STANDARDS, THE UNIFORM HOUSING CODE, THE UNIFORM <br />CODE FOR THE ABATEMENT OF DANGEROUS BUILDINGS, THE <br />UNIFORM MECHANICAL CODE, THE UNIFORM PLUMBING CODE, <br />THE UNIFORM FIRE CODE AND THE UNIFORM FIRE CODE <br />STANDARDS, AND TO PROVIDE FOR REVISIONS TO SUCH <br />CHAPTERS RELATING TO THE ADOPTION OF SAID CODES <br />INCLUDING THE REPEAL OF CERTAIN SECTIONS, AND TO <br />AMEND SECTION 16.04.510 TO ESTABLISH PENALTIES <br />FOR VIOLATIONS OF TITLE 16 AND THE CODES ADOPTED <br />BY REFERENCE THEREIN AND ENFORCEMENT PROCEDURES; <br />AND BY ~MENDING SECTION 14.12.235 OF THE RIVERSIDE <br />MUNICIPAL CODERELATING TO RESTAURANTS TO CONFORM <br />TO THE UNIFORM PLUMBING CODE. <br /> <br />12 <br /> <br />The City Council of the City of Riverside does ordain as <br /> <br />13 follows: <br /> <br />14 <br /> <br />Section 1: Section 16.04.020 of the Riverside Municipal <br /> <br />15 Code is hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> <br />16 <br /> <br />17 <br /> <br />18 <br /> <br />19 <br /> <br />20 <br /> <br />21 <br /> <br />22 <br /> <br />23 <br /> <br />24 <br /> <br />25 <br /> <br />26 <br /> <br /> "16.04.020 SCOPE. The provisions of Chapters <br />16.04 through 16.20 shall apply to the construction, <br />alteration, moving, demolition, repair and use of any <br />building, equipment, or structure within the city, <br />except public utility towers and poles, hydraulic <br />flood control structures, and other structures owned <br />and used by exempt governmental jurisdictions. <br /> Additions, alterations, repairs, moving and changes <br />of use or occupancy in all buildings and structures shall <br />comply with the provisions for new buildings and <br />structures, except as otherwise provided in Chapters <br />16.04 through 16.20. <br /> Where in any specific case different sections of <br />Chapter 16.04 through 16.20 specify different materials, <br />methods of construction or installation, or other <br />requirements, those providing the greater safety to life <br />or limb, property or public welfare shall prevail. <br />Where there is a conflict between a general requirement <br />and a specific requirement, the specific requirement <br />shall be applicable." <br /> <br />27 <br /> <br />Section 2: Chapter 16.04 0f the Riverside Municipal Code <br /> <br />28 is hereby amended by adding thereto a new Section 16.04.083 to <br /> <br />28 read as follows: <br /> <br /> 30 <br /> 31 <br /> 32 <br /> <br />CITY ATTORNEY <br />RIVERSIDE <br />CALIFORNIA <br /> <br /> "16.04.083 TEMPORARY BUILDINGS AND STRUCTURES. <br />Temporary structures such as reviewing stands and <br />other miscellaneous structures, sheds, canopies or <br />fences used for the protection of the public around <br />and in conjunction with construction work may be <br />erected by special permit from the building official <br /> <br /> <br />
