Whenever in this code or in any other <br />ordinance of the City, or any rule or regulation <br />promulgated pursuant thereto, any act is prohibited <br />or is made or declared to be unlawful or an offense, <br />or the doing of any act is required or the failure <br />to do any act is declared to be unlawful or a <br />misdemeanor, where no specific penalty is provided <br />for, the violation of any such provision of.thiscode <br />or any other ordinance of the City shall be punishable <br />by a fine not exceeding one thousand dollars or impri- <br />sonment for a term not exceeding six months, or by <br />both such fine and imprisonment; except that notwith- <br />standing any other provisions of this code, any such <br />violation constituting a misdemeanor may, in the <br />discretion of the City Attorney, be charged and <br />prosecuted as an infraction. Any person convicted <br />of an infraction under the provisions of this code, <br />unless provision is otherwise herein made, shall be <br />punishable by a fine not exceeding one hundred <br />dollars for a first violation, a fine not exceeding <br />two hundred dollars for a second violation of the <br />same provision within one year, and a fine not <br />exceeding five hundred dollars for each additional <br />violation of the same provision within one year. <br /> Every day any violation of this code or any other <br />ordinance of the City shall continue shall constitute <br />a separate offense." <br /> <br /> Section 2: Chapter 1.01 of the Riverside Municipal <br />Code is hereby amended by adding thereto a new Section 1.01.115 <br />to read as follows: <br /> <br /> "1.01.115 ISSUANCE OF CITATIONS.
