<br /> Chair Evans convened the meeting at 5:30 p.m.
<br /> CITY ATTORNEY PRESENTATION
<br /> Deputy City Attorney Wilson reported on the purpose and content of the Charter, the
<br /> Charter Review Committee's scope of work and timeline, the purpose of the community
<br /> meetings, and the Ralph M. Brown Act requirements on conduct of the meeting.
<br /> ORAL COMMUNICATIONS FROM THE AUDIENCE
<br /> Nicholas Adcock, Governmental Affairs Manager for the Greater Riverside Chambers of
<br /> Commerce, reported that the Chamber supports the run -off election system, a
<br /> shortened timeline between general and run -off elections, if possible, and retention of
<br /> the Community Police Review Commission.
<br /> Brian Holley, Chair Elect for the Greater Riverside Chambers of Commerce, further
<br /> reported that the Chamber does not favor granting the Mayor voting rights, retention of
<br /> the Mayor veto power, part -time Councilmembers with part -time compensation, and
<br /> Ward representation on boards and commissions.
<br /> Mary Shelton favors retention of the Community Police Review Commission and
<br /> independence of the City Auditor from the City Manager's Office. She also spoke
<br /> regarding the Finance Department's former independence from the City Manager's
<br /> 1
